Porsche 996 911 GT2

porsche 911 gt2, porsche, porsche 911

The Porsche 996 911 GT2 is perhaps the ultimate 911.
It's powered by a 3.6 liter flat-6 engine with twin variable geometry turbochargers.
This gives the Porsche 520 horses and 500 ft pounds of torque.
And that allows the 3,175 lb car to blast through the quarter mile at 120.6 mph in 11.9 seconds.
As far as acceleration, the GT2 can go from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds and 0 to 100 in 7.5 seconds, with a top speed of 204 mph.
You can pick one up for around $180,000.
The fuel economy is a really quite good for a car this quick, 15 mpg city, 22 mpg highway.

Porsche Turbo X50

cars, automobile, porsche, automobiles

The Porsche Turbo X50 is a $17,000 option available for the Porsche 996.
The Porsche 996 was a water-cooled version of the famous air-cooled Porsche 911 sports car.
The X50 package boosted the 996 turbo up to 450 horsepower and 457 pounds of torque.
That allowed the X50 to cover the quarter mile in 11.86 seconds at 119.91 mph, and gave it a 0–60 mph time of about 3.6 seconds.
There were also a few modeling changes in the 996, like wider rear wings and different front lights and bumpers from the Porsche Carrera.
The 996 also had large vents on the front bumper, that were used on the Carrera 4S and Cayenne Turbo.

Rolls-Royce 200EX

Rolls-Royce is set to reveal the 200EX concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The design study is a preview of a new car, codenamed RR4, first seen in sketch form in May last year. Smaller than the Phantom but larger than a 7 Series, the 200EX measures 5399mm in length, 1948mm wide, 1550mm tall and rides on a 3295mm-long wheelbase.

The exterior design - said to be "alluring, inviting, approachable," according to Rolls-Royce chief designer, Ian Cameron - is dominated by large surfaces, while sculpted horizontal lines add definition. In combination, the upward-sweeping sill line and low roof create a dynamic profile. The high shoulder line and flanks draw in to the tapered rear, narrowing as they flow from the rear fenders to the taillamps.

Access to the contemporary interior, by designer Alan Sheppard, is granted via rear-hinged coach doors as on the larger Phantom. It is finished in natural grain crème-colored leather, with cornsilk carpets and a cashmere blend headliner. Wood veneer features prominently on the IP, center console and doors. In the rear, the position of the 'lounge seat' behind the C-pillars emphasizes the intimate ambience.

Dongfeng Fengshen

Dongfeng Motor, one of the top five largest Chinese vehicle producers, will introduce its own Aeolus brand in Beijing this March. The new brand will subsequently unveil a new mid-sized sedan called the Fengshen at the 2009 Auto Shanghai show in April.

The new car, developed by Dongfeng's own technology center with input from ItalDesign, is a traditional three-box package to cater to Chinese tastes. It rides on a 2610mm-long wheelbase and measures 4502mm long, 1740mm wide and 1465mm tall; roughly the same size as a Peugeot 307. The Fengshen will be built on PSA's Citroën ZX platform and source power from the French automaker's 1.6-liter 16-valve petrol engine.

This is not the first self-developed model from Dongfeng. The company also created the Little Prince - a small sedan virtually identical to the Hyundai Accent on which it is based - and the Dongfeng Joyear mini-MPV. Dongfeng operates joint ventures with PSA, Nissan, Honda and Kia in China.

Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Comfort, style and speed.
The Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG is powered by a 6.0 litre V12 BiTurbo engine that puts out 612 horsepower and 737 foot pounds of torque.
That allows this beauty to go from 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds.
This also gives the CL65 an 11.8 second quarter mile time at 120.9 mph.
It's estimated top speed is 186 mph.
The downside of this car is that the CL65 AMG is made to order in very small numbers.
And for the mundane stuff, the MPG is 11 in the city, and 17 on the highway.
The base price is around $203,700.

Citroën DS Inside concept

Citroën has just unveiled the new DS Inside concept car, one of three new vehicles set to bear the name of their iconic predecessor. The announcement of the much-lauded nameplate's revival is also joined by a new three-dimensional logo design and an invigorated development plan, which marks the company's 90th Anniversary and the birth date of its founder, Andre Citroën.

The French automaker's new product line takes inspiration from its historic design DNA to strengthen its positioning. Called the DS3, DS4 and DS5, the three new cars will occupy the small, medium and large car segments and be launched successively from 2010. The Inside concept (pictured), which will make its debut at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show, will likely spawn the upcoming smaller derivation, the DS3.

Aiming to satisfy the needs of customers who are seeking fundamental mobility, prestige, thrills and refinement, Citroën wants to broaden its product portfolio to appeal to those looking to downsize but who still desire intelligent and appealing products. The company claims the 'accessible objects of desire' will stand apart through their creativity, intelligent design and build quality, embodying the 'different spirit' of their ancestor.

Hyundai HED-6 concept

Korean automaker Hyundai will be unveiling its new HED-6 concept car at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Created at Hyundai's European Design headquarters in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the concept has been designed with everyday utility in mind, and is claimed to fit comfortably in urban or out-of-town environments. Exterior design elements include a sculpted backlight (realized through the use of Lexan plastic instead of glass), a hexagonal grille, angular feature lines and back-swept front headlamps. 'Ice Blue' exterior paint emphasizes the exterior form while 21-inch alloy wheels complete the look.

Powered by a 1.6-liter GDi turbocharged engine, the HED-6 concept is said to be a clear indication of the direction Hyundai will take with its next generation of SUVs.

Chevrolet Spark

The production version of Chevrolet's new B-segment car will take center stage on Chevrolet's stand at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show. First seen in concept form alongside the Trax and Groove at the 2007 New York Auto Show, members of the public were asked to vote for their preferred design online and the car known then as the Beat received a unanimous vote.

Fast-forward to 2009 and the Beat has now become the Spark and gained an additional two doors, though the interior has retained the concept's two-tier IP design. As the most recent interpretation of Chevrolet's new global design strategy the Spark's exterior styling is designed to appeal to both young and mature drivers, while its angular cab-forward cabin is claimed to provide a great deal of passenger space thanks to the car's wheel-at-each corner layout.

Powered by 1.0 and 1.2-liter engines, the Spark goes on sale in Europe later this year and will also be sold in the USA, India and other global markets.

Corvette Stingray concept

General Motors unveiled a new Corvette Stingray concept at the Chicago Auto Show yesterday. Unlike most concepts, the new car is not intended to gauge public opinion of new design direction; it will instead debut as the character 'Sideswipe' in the upcoming DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures release 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'.

According to Ed Welburn, Vice President of GM Global Design, the prototype explores a new, futuristic expression for the Corvette nameplate. Inspired by the 1959 Stingray Racer and ‘63 Corvette Stingray split-window coupe, the concept combines heritage cues spanning generations of the iconic sports car design with an altogether more futuristic shape.

The car's sharp front end features a grille influenced by the Corvette SS from the ‘50s, and a wraparound windscreen leads to a sloping roofline that tapers off into a split-window backlight. When seen in profile, the fender shapes recall historic Stingrays as well, with the front fenders incorporating an air extractor aft of the front wheel and a defining feature line that links both the front and rear wheels.

BMW 5 Series GT concept

BMW has just revealed the new 5 Series GT concept, which will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Designed by Christopher Weil under the direction of Adrian van Hooydonk, the new five-door Gran Turismo is built on the same platform as the new 7 Series sedan. As such it measures nearly 5m long but stands 1559mm tall and has a 3070mm wheelbase.

Notable design elements include a face that is reminiscent of the CS concept unveiled in Shanghai two years ago, a coupe-like roofline, frameless doors, the flagship sedan's rear lamps and a dual-mode trunk/hatchback similar to that of the Skoda Superb Twindoor. The concept's four-seat interior also bears a strong resemblance to that of the 7 Series.

The new car is intended to bridge the gap between a conventional wagon and the X6 SAV in BMW's activity vehicle line-up, but the car has been specifically designed to cater to the aging demographic who desire a luxurious and practical vehicle that does not have the elevated and imposing ride height of the X6. The 5 Series GT it is not expected to change much before it appears in production form at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Mitsubishi i MiEV Sport Air

Mitsubishi Motors will reveal a new i MiEV Sport Air concept at the 79th Geneva International Motor Show in March. Using the same nomenclature as the Saab 9X 'Air', the new car is an open top variant of the i MiEV Sport design study first unveiled at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show.

Like its hardtop counterpart, the two-door concept has a bold, wheels-at-each-corner stance and accentuated fenders, while chiseled body lines guide airflow to cool the rear-mounted electric motor. Above the cabin, a 'clear cutaway' roof (with integrated solar panels) is said to enable the driver to 'enjoy the exhilaration of fresh-air motoring while also highlighting its eco-friendly qualities', according to the Japanese automaker.

Claimed to emphasize exhilarating driving pleasure by providing a balance between environmental and dynamic performance, the car has a lithium-ion battery pack mounted in the floor for a lower center of gravity. It measures 3450mm long and has a 2550mm-long wheelbase.

Opel Ampera preview

Opel has released a teaser sketch of its new five-door extended-range electric car ahead of its public debut at the Geneva Auto Show in March.

Based on the Voltec powertrain and chassis architecture of Chevrolet's Volt, the Ampera promises to surpass that car in terms of style by some margin. The body appears to be nearly identical between the A- and C-pillars, but the deformed horseshoe-shaped headlamp design and two-bar grille come straight from the 2007 Flextreme concept, as do the car's tree-branch alloy wheels. Sadly, the Ampera prototype will feature a conventional rear hatch rather than the Flextreme's novel two-piece gullwing design.

Peugeot 3008

Peugeot has launched the new 3008, the company's first crossover. Previewed by the Prologue concept unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, and nearly identical in its overall aesthetic, the 3008 is positioned at the crossroads between SUVs, MPVs and traditional hatchbacks, and will be the French automaker's first vehicle to offer a hybrid powertrain.

The design of the production 3008 is virtually identical to the concept's, though the new car makes do with smaller wheels, a metal roof rather than an all-glass canopy, and the reptilian skin graft at the rear has been removed. Peugeot claims its non-conformist approach offers an original solution and optimal versatility to customers in search of modernity, practicality and driving pleasure.

Inside, the car appears to be an inviting and driver-oriented environment, with a center stack angled towards the driver. The upmarket interior aims to attract the same kind of buyers drawn to Nissan's highly successful short-wheelbase Qashqai. New technologies such as dynamic roll and grip control are claimed to enable the vehicle to blend a higher driving position with engaging driving characteristics and environmental efficiency.

Cadillac Presidential Limousine

President Obama arrived at his inauguration earlier this week in a new Cadillac Presidential Limousine, which includes many of the brand's signature design elements.

As the first all-new Presidential limousine since the 2004 Cadillac DTS built for President George W. Bush, the new car has roughly the same overall footprint as the previous model and similar proportions. The dual-textured grille and vertical head- and taillamps are reminiscent of those seen on Cadillac's STS and DTS sedans, while the technologically advanced cabin features executive seating with upholstery that has been cut and sewn by hand. An embroidered presidential seal is positioned in the center of the rear seat back and on each rear door trim panel.

The purpose-built vehicle has been specially designed for presidential use to specifications provided by the US Secret Service. Developed and tested by specialists, the vehicle features an armored body, 8-inch-thick doors, bulletproof glass, a separate oxygen supply and an airtight interior to protect against a chemical attack. It was subjected to an extreme testing regimen to ensure performance in the field.
